Poet and magazine contributor Robert Cameron Rogers' text "The Rosary" became a popular song of American composer Ethelbert Nevin. "The Rosary" has also been set to music by many other composers.

Born in Buffalo, New York, Roberts graduated from Yale in 1883. He wrote a dedicatory ode for the opening of the Buffalo Pan-American Exposition.
