Abbie Farwell Brown, who lived her entire life in New England, is well known for her children's books, written in both verse and prose.

Ms. Brown’s most successful children’s book was The Book of Saints and Friendly Beasts, published in 1901. She was often invited to give lectures, and most of her lectures concerned writing for children. In the Days of Giants of 1902 was another children’s book written by Ms. Brown and involved mythology.
