Remembrance (A Sound of a Distant Horn)

"Remembrance" is the twelfth song in Ives's song collection 114 Songs. The song was written for his father, who died unexpectedly in 1894 while Ives was an undergraduate at Yale.

The song begins with the epigram by Wordsworth:
"The music in my heart I bore
Long after it was heard no more."
