The Divine Ship(1952)
"The Divine Ship" can be found as the third song in Ernst Bacon's volume Quiet Airs. This song is Bacon's second setting of this specific Whitman poem. His first setting was published in 1930, entitled "One Thought Ever at the Fore." as part of his Songs at Parting: A Selection of Walt Whitman's Poems song cycle.
The Divine Ship
by Walt Whitman
One thought ever at the fore -
That in the Divine Ship, the World, breasting Time and Space,
All Peoples of the globe together sail, sail the same voyage,
Are bound to the same destination.
